#133476, "hello all"

Hi people. So ive had this car for 3 weeks now and finally got used to driving my first mtx car. A 97 eclipse rs with 150xxx on the body and 67xxx on the motor which was swapped to a 95 motor. Of course I'm having the typical misfire problem. It's a cylinder 2 misfire, which I was told by a guy from advanced auto parts and just bought new Denso spark plugs and replaced all 4. The CEL is still on and I've been using techtron ( however you spell it or its chevron)fuel cleaner every other fill up. It has an MSD coil pack and msd wires. Also my 5th gear rubs and I think there's something wrong with my clutch because when I sit on idle or even when I'm driving I hear it...grinding I guess. Any help and tips and pointers would be thankful. I'm in the massachusetts area if anyone is around. Thanks and I'm glad to have joined this forum.

someone will help you out, but the grinding in idle is from your throw out bearing! As for your 5th gear, it just might be old, the previous owner might have shoved it in a couple of times w/o pressing the clutch! or something...

MSD coil is garbage. I suggest you test the coil to see if it is within spec.

Replace the sparkplug wires as well.

The noise at idle is the throw-out bearing, and other than being obnoxious, is harmless.

Describe the exact problem you're having with 5th gear please.

Thanks for responding and when I'm driving and shift from forth to fifth it kinda makes a rubbing noise as it goes in. And about the ignition coil should I just get a new one as well? I'm gonna get those wires now so I'm thinking might as well get the ignition coil too. Thanks again

Even if you get a brand new TOB, it's probably going to make the same noise.

the throw out bearing will fix the noise at idle but i dont know about the fifth gear rubbing, could just be due to an old tranny!

Did you reset the ECU? The light doesn't immediately go away.

Pull the battery cable for a few minutes to reset the ECU. If the light comes back you have more problems.

Sounds like low fluid. The higher rpms might "force" the fluid through. It happened to me once. Fill and "burp" the radiator.
