is a 55mm tb worth the money? What kinds of gains should I expect if I get one from Howell?

Agreed. Looking at your current mods, I think a 55mm throttle body would be a good next mod (cheap and easy to install).

You can get raped by getting an AFX for like 280 bucks, or you could just send yours to howell and have them bore it to 55mm and put a new butterfly valve in it for i think around 100 bucks...
