so this is the story:


The car stopped getting spark after i washed under the engine bay (i know, i know). I have tested the spark plugs on another car and they are fine, i have put a test light on the wiring harness into the ignition coil and it gets power when the engine turns but i have no measures the voltage, i have tested my ignition coil and the resistance is in spec. I did a spark test and there was no spark.

I put a test light from one of the outputs in the coil that the plug wires hook to and grounded it while turning the motor and the test light did not show any power.

I carb cleaned the crank sensor (it was so dirty) and re-installed, still no spark. cam sensor is brand new, took it off and it looked just fine.

any more ideas?

This story doesn't match what you stated last night....

So which is it? you washed the engine bay or the cam gear wasnt tightened sending timing array? Do you still only have 70psi compression? Did you verify no spark with a tester?

If you have 12 volts to the black wire w/ red stripe while cranking at the coil, and you have no spark, you either have a bad coil or no crank trigger signal from crank position sensor.

since you stated last night you have been driving the car for over a year with no crank position sensor, i think that maybe you should start there :rolls eyes:

If you dont have power to the black wire, double check the circuit to make sure you are still getting power to the injectors and or O2 sensor(s)... again same exact black wire w red stripe.

If those have power, then you have a broken wire to the coil. If they don't have power, Move onto the ASD relay, located on the firewall.

Red wire powers it at all times, black w white wire powers it via ignition switch, PCM grounds it via red with white... daym this seems like deja vu... didnt I explain this to you already?

take a test light, key on u should have 12v power at red wire at relay...

for a timed delay of 2-3 seconds, your test light should light up at the black with white wire at the relay....

the ground is ground.

if all those work, that means using ur test light the black with red stripe should time delay 2-3 seconds on. If those things above happen and this does not, then you have a bad ASD relay.

however you keep proclaiming you have injector pulse, which means it will be IMPOSSIBLE for the relay to be bad and your symptoms to be no spark with fuel pulse.

The original night said member entered chat room asking for help with such issue. Another member and myself were offering assistance with said issue.

His original complaint was that he had fuel no spark. That he tested coil and Ohm'd all windings. Wanted to know how to check to make sure he had power. I assisted him stating how power was time delayed 2-3 sec key and and it would be hard to do it by yourself.

Second member explained to check to ensure he had no spark using a tester, instead of assuming, and relay back to us. It was at that time I told him that he needed to make sure he def. have injector pulse, for if he had 0 pulse, and 0 spark, the issue is more likely to be a ASD relay or crank position sensor.

At that time member stated that he had been driving the car with out a crank position sensor for over a year. I thought this was odd, as did 2nd assisting member in chat. Stating that even MS needed a crank trigger reference to control fuel and spark. Said member said he still didn't have one, only had a cam sensor and wanted to know how to test that.

And so on. Next night I get home from work and saw this post, I also entered chat to see him plugging the brains of more members stating it had happened due to washing the engine bay.

Also note he had told myself and 2nd helpful member that he had 0 compression in untold hole, but after his father and uncle dumped a ton of oil in the cylinder it came up to 70psi. However they felt it wasn't a bent valve only no spark, but that the coil was good, even though their is no spark and power to coil.

There are enough inconsistencies in the OP's description to different members that there is no way of telling what is actually true or not.

He must have a crank sensor, I think we can all agree on this - the issue is the OP not knowing what he is talking about.

OP: Start a new thread with a complete list of facts if you expect any realistic help.
