#132756, "AT to MT myths"

ok well most of the talk on here is that you can but a new car for the price the at to mt swap costs. that is a myth! i converted mine for around 500 - 600 dollars. that included a new clutch and pressure plate. first you don't need to buy a donor car or all new parts.
what i did was
1)go to the junk yard
2)look for a car with low miles
3)start disasembly
4)buy all your parts

you do not need the ecu but if you do check the vin and get the same year ecu! 99 and 98 are interchangeable. a member here told me about that.
the axles are the same. same part numbers, we checked.
console? yes they are the same
the part/neutral relay is diffrent! on normaly open other closed.

thats all i can think of, its not too hard just be patient. it is worth it! best "mod" for power I've done

The main reason for having a donor car is so that you can have something to refrence as you swap parts from one car to the other.
Unless you take lots of refrence pics or have a photographic memory there's a very likely chance that you're going to miss or forget something important.

That's it's possible and affordable has been documented here for years. There's even a wiki writeup on it.

Have you looked in the past few months? There are two now and one of them has lots of detail and pictures. I'm sure of that.
