#132746, "99 ecu problem at to mt"

i recently swapped auto to manual and I've been using the 99 auto ecu. i did pick up a manual ecu but the key ways on the plugs do not line up. i believe it was from a 98? i looked up the pin outs on here but it doesn't show the 99. i noticed the 98 pinout lines up with the 99 so i took that info and repined it. 98 pin for the 99 and 97 pin for the 98. it didn't work. ecu hummed and all so not sure what happened but any help will be great. thank you.
sorry for being confusing. i was very confused

98 and 99 ecu's are interchangable. 97's are different.

call mitsubishi with your VIN and ask for the year/month. tell them to give you the corresponding ECU part number

The date on the door jam is the manufactured date, which may not necessarily be the model year.

The 10th digit of your VIN number indicates the model year.

S=1995
T=1996
V=1997
W=1998
X=1999
