so i dumbed out on the rebuild and plugged the plug for the coil into the speed sensor and vise versa. i figured it out thanks to 2GNT chat, but now my speedo doesnt work. i cleaned the speed sensor, still doesnt work.
do i need a new speed sensor... or any ideas?
i dont wanna spend the 60 bucks for a new one if i dont have to.

Never hurts to check the wiring and such to see if it melted and shorted etc. It sounds like it might be the gear in the tranny though (stripped possibly). You can check the sensor with a power drill and see if the sensor reads on the mph gauge. If it does, the sensor is fine, if it doesn't, you need a new one.
