OK, so I just thought I blew a head gasket. upon removing my valva cover, I realize that I've just busted a rocker arm... So I replaced all the intake rocker arms, lube'd the cam seats, and put the valve cover back on... and UNGODLY AMOUNTS OF SQUEALING when i fire it back up. Idle hangs at 1800 rpms, and creeps up as I continue to let it run. Scared ****less about this, as this is my only car, and have already invested a lot of money into it. Tried to diagnose the problem myself, but no luck... any help ASAP will be horrendously appreciated. thank you!

Squealing noises are usually a belt, quieter squeaking noises are usually the waterpump or a bad pulley bearing.

High idle is most likely a vacuum leak. Double check all your lines, brake booster, EGR tube, TB gasket...

Obviously not, if you're having high idle issues.

Yeah, I'm new to the fix it yourself stuff, I'll be honest. and a friend of mine put on the other plate for me... Fixed it. Squealing was because of carelessness around belt housing. (stupid powersteering fluid.) BUT my engine OCCASIONALLY puffs white smoke. now I recently put in synthetic oil, and hi-octane fuel for the first time. would this have any bearing on the occasional white smoke issue?

Are you sure it's smoke, and not condensation? If it's smoke... what does it smell like?
