#131586, "SRS light on"

I put a black stitched steering wheel in my car the other day. To test the alignment I drove without the airbag put back in, made my adjustments to get it straight, put the airbag back in. The next day I come out and the SRS light wont go off. Tried unhooking the battery, doesnt work. Is there some way to clear the code or will it just go away after a while? I made sure the airbag was hooked up properly.

Oops, that blows. Nope, it has to be shut off by the stealership. that code is now in the box until they get in and shut it off.

YOU can TRY disconnecting the battery cables and holding the two cables together for about 10 minutes. This is not likely to work, but it'll give you something to do emoji No, seriously, it is a long shot but at least its a shot. Otherwise the only strategies I know of, is to either change the box or have Satan turn it off for you.

This is true... that's why I have no light now. I took the bulb out. There's nothing worse than riding at night with that bright red light hitting you in the face. (Will NOT pass an inspection though, unless you know somebody. Keep that in mind.)

ah... turbo. I love the turbo, the boost, the speed, the sound.
and its all better when you do it yourself. cheaper too.

Ha, my car wouldnt pass emissions as it sits now anyway. No stock ECU whatsoever, therefore no CEL, probably wouldnt pass sniffer. Good thing I live in Ohio..

So what do they actually do? Do they plug into the OBD port or actually take the SRS ecu out? I might just bring them the ECU if they can do it that way. Im sure it wont be cheap either way.

I had the same issue with turning the SRS light off. My light turned on and I went to the dealership and got them to pull the code (code 22: broken clockspring) at a cost of about $100. I went to the junk yard, pulled a used one out of a car and installed it but the light still stayed on. I tried all the tricks: disconnect battery, touch battery cables together, disconnect SRS module for a week or so but nothing would turn the light off. Before heading back to the dealership to see if they could further diagnose the problem I tried using my parent's Snap-On scanner, which I knew in the past couldn't pull codes, but after some code update it can read and erase trouble codes through the OBD2 port. FYI, this was on my 1995 ESI.

Hmm. I may put my Scan Gauge scanner on there just to see what comes up and if I can clear it. Cant hurt to try.

Scanguage doesn't clear all codes. I had a failing cat code, and whenever I try to clear it, the scanguage just goes blank.
