I needed a Ecu for my 98 Rs for a good month or so, well I know that the 95-97 Ecu won't work in a 98. Now my question is will a 99 Gs Ecu work EVEN IF THE P/N and S/N doesn't match?

PLEASE I REALLY NEED HELP IM GOIN TO PICK THIS ECU UP IN 5 HOURS.

Did you have to program the Ecu before you drove it?

I've been researching this matter a lot recently and as far as I can tell, the connector pinouts between the two PCM's are the same. There are definitely operational differences between the A/T and M/T PCM's, though.

My car is a 98 RS, I run a 99 ECU in it.

Now I know without a doubt that 95-97 WILL NOT WORK in 98+.

Like I said, I run a 99 ECU in my car with no issues. YMMV.

Do I have to program it or just plugband play?

Ok and I just picked up the 99 ecu, and the part number didn't match my stock ecu would that matter? Sorry I'm I'm being overly concerned, I just don't wanna mes it up. It took me about 2 months to find it!
