Okay I was going down the road when I noticed my oil light turned on as i was slowing down/stopped at a light. When I take off it shuts off. It normally only happens after i've run the engine for 10-20 minutes.
There are times where it does not turn on at all though. I think oil is kinda serious? hah so I haven't been driving it.
Do you think its just the sensor? I read that was an easy diy job? Any tips/advice on that? I also read that it could be the oil pump and that I can take it into a shop and ask for an oil pressure test? Do you guys have any thoughts on that? Or an idea about the price?

I was also told I need a new radiator, 350$ was the quote I got. Is that a good price or am i getting ripped off? Thanks!

Whens the last time you changed/checked your oil??!? I'm going to try not to yell, but just went through the same thing with my fiance (she asked about the oil light every once in awhile coming on, she went almost a year without an oil change)
First off yes oil is important, your engine is a bunch of metal shaved to within certain diameters to twist and turn and grind properly to function it needs a lubricant to help it from prematurely wearing out.
Chances are you are low on oil, to check this, pop the hood, pull the dipstick that says "engine oil" wipe it off with a rag. Put the dipstick back in, wait a good 5s then pull it out, if its dry or below the full line, then you need more oil. Best thing to do is do a full oil change. Also it isnt a bad idea to jack up the car and look around for any oil leaks, although if it has been a long time since your last change chances are its just slowly burnt up.
Also $350 for a radiator is a huge rip-off. Go to radiatorbarn.com (http://www.radiatorbarn.com/search.php?product=radiator)they sell a full aluminum radiator (upgrade from ours)for only 150 with free shipping. If you have a friend who is even slightly mechanically inclined, they should be able to install it for cheap to free, radiators are really simple.

radiators barn is lifetime as well and your all aluminum instead of the plastic/aluminum. But yeah, I am hoping she was quoted with it installed, regardless, that's about $200 for a radiator install which is about a half hour of work, hour absolute tops.

yes lol, but with how the post sounded, marge seemed new to cars, and i didn't want to sound degrading. But we all know the golden rule, if there is a problem start small first.

Yes I am new to cars, I've never changed oil myself but I did recently replace the upper radiator hose! yay!
I've just had the oil changed, driven maybe 200-300 miles. I also just had the engine steam cleaned and checked twice for any leaks. The guy at the shop who quoted me 350 has always been good to the family. He will check it out, test codes and stuff for free.
I drove it all day yesterday and the light didn't turn on at all? So maybe the sensor. I tested the level as soon as the light started turning on and it was at max. Maybe the shop put in the wrong kind of oil?
Yes it was installed and warranty. I figured it was about 200 in labor which i thought was steep too

Well, glad we could somewhat help, its a fine line between trying to help a newbie and not coming off like an ass =P. Anyways, if you are serious about your car and saving money, I highly recommend buying a haynes/chilton manual and looking it over. DIY jobs on our cars are normally easy and will save you a ton of money.
And don't worry about the questions, we all had to start somewhere. Some general tips are that your local autozone will normally check any CELs (check engine light) for free.
Also I don't mean to bash your family mechanic, but a radiator for our cars is a $20-50 job imo. Its draining the fluid, a few hose clamps bolts, slide the old out and the new in and refill with fluid. But hope you get everything taken care of!
