#131155, "Cooling issue"

Whatsup guys... I've got a 98 RS-T that I just got running again. Everything runs fine but for some reason I'm having a cooling issue. This is what it does-

The water temp gauge won't read right ( It goes a little past the C line on the factory gauge cluster). The cooling fan won't come on I guess since it's not reading temps right. So... the water keeps getting real hot and boiling out. I haven't driven the car, just start it to idle.

I have a new water pump, timing's set right, new thermostat, coolant temp sensor, and I even switched the gauge sensor with a known good sensor under the coolant temp sensor.

I'm sure it is running hot because the fan is not cutting on. Jumped the fan and it works. All hoses get hot ( upper and lower radiator hoses and both heater hoses) and when I take the radiator cap off I can see the coolant flowing through the thermostat so I know that that and the water pump is working properly.

So I guess my question is what could be causing the coolant temp sensor to not read right? I think that is the source of my problem and if I can fix that the fan will cut on when it's suppose to and she will stop running hot. I could just run a switch to the fan and cut it on and off when I want, however I really don't want to go that route. Car is not driven daily so it's not too serious but I would really like to get everything straight on it so I won't have any problems later. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'll definately give that a shot tomorrow. I'm open to any and all suggestions right now. This has me pretty stumped right now. If it won't storming here I'd do it now.

What your gauge reads and what the ECU sees to control the fans are two different sensors. Search this section, the details of each have been covered.

Get an independent gauge or IR thermometer to find out the actual temperature of the coolant. Or some other means of datalogging or OBDII monitoring.

Well after alot of searching I came up on the post below...

http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=5&topic_id=105373&mode=full

So, after reading that I realized that I have the condensor cooling fan hooked up, not the radiator fan. I jumped the condensor relay plug in the fuse box and the fan cut on. So, hit the a/c button and turned the blower on and the fan worked. I'll use that temporarily until I have time to rewire the ect and temp sensors. I'm pretty sure that's where my issue is. It's the only thing that isn't new in the system.
