#131023, "Antifreeze leaks?"
Jul-07-10 03:48 PM by Babbz413

I'm trying to find what all possible antifreeze leaks there could be coming from back of the block besides headgasket. The antifreeze is nearly pouring out of somewhere from behind the block. Headgasket was done in june of 09 about 2k ago. Today I moved my car from out by the road to closer to house in driveway, a 30 yard drive, and within minutes antifreeze puddle coming out from under car. I pulled the battery and intake and started car and couldn't visibly see any leak spots, but it was leaking alright. Leaking off trans. Any help would be great as far as where to check.

I know its possibly headgasket, but I wanna check the other alternatives first. Is it just the 2 heater hoses in back that it could be?

And its not overheating or idling odd or anything. And when car turns off, a loud purge noise can be heard from back right corner of block.

Thanks in advance.

I'd lean more toward a hole or loose clamp on a heater hose. Other than that, the headgasket or possibly a freeze plug.

I ran the car and stared at those 2 hoses but couldn't see anything leaking. Should I just pull them and inspect?

While the car is running wiggle the hoses around. More than likely they are the culprit.

Recommendations on where to get heater hose replacements? I just called a few places and they said its a pre cut hose and they can't get one.

Honestly, all I did was get 5/8 heater hose and just replace the lines with it on my 97 GS. Doesnt rub, leak, or any of that.

But 14.01 isnt expensive emoji

I'm assuming you left the intake bolted up?

Yeah, it's a ton easier without the intake in the way, but I find removing and reinstalling the intake a much larger PITA

Well call me lazy, but the bust in the hose was right before the clamp near the tube on the head, so I just cut that off before the split, and pulled it onto the tube and clamped it on with a new clamp...that's ok for a temp fix I guess...
