A few days ago I was doing some "Highway tuning" on my car. I was taking it to about 7500 RPM. After like 10 minutes I started smelling oil. Turned around, went back to the gas station I started from and saw a PUDDLE of oil under the car. My first thought, Holy Fuck I already blew it up. I still had half an oil pan of oil though, so I got it home, jacked it up and saw oil all over the back of the block. Ended up changing the OPSU. When I unplugged the connector oil dripped out of it. Got the sensor out, it had a tear in the plastic diaphram. Put new sensor in, no leak or burning smell.
Tonight I did the same thing, few freeway pulls. Didnt notice any leaks or smells until I got back to the gas station. It wasnt dripping off the car at all, but for about 10 seconds smoke was starting to billow from the engine bay, from oil dripping on the downpipe in the back again. Crawled under and looked, didnt see as much oil but it was still on the block. The burning went away by the time I got home.
If it was my rear main seal (god forbid), wouldnt oil be coming out of the little rubber boot where the clutch arm goes in, or the inspection plate? There was none there, but its all over the rear motor mount, the downpipe, passengers side axle and actually a little on the head, Im assuming from the wind at 80 MPH. Oil cant really LEAK from the HG can it? ![]() 95 Eclipse GS: 10.5:1, Crower 2's and MSII 186 WHP - 150 WTQ 14.697 @ 93.85 MPH......Gone, but not forgotten 99 420A Avenger: Given to my sister 99 GS OZ: Sold 03 Evo 8: Family Car with balls
