Red Top Optima Bought this winter.
2gauge wiring from alternator to battery and grounds upgraded
A year old alternater "supposibly HO" 150amp

Wiring was done a year ago when i had another system and I had no problems. Yesterday i installed a new subwoofer and amp set up with the prexisting wiring .I finished up started my car up 3 times then went for a drive. Started it up 2 more times. When i went to start it up last time for the night no power at all. I got a jump but it took alil time i guess for the battery to get some charge. I drove home and my battery light was on and if the car would pass 2200rpms my lights would begin to flicker. Today I give it another jump and i disconect the positive terminal and it still keeps runing. Guys help me out here.

Bad voltage regulator or charging will trip the battery light.

You could have a parasitic drain on the system from your audio.

You can disconnect the battery while a vehicle is running and it will stay running - that is normal.

Attach a test light or current meter to the battery with the vehicle off and begin pulling fuses one at a time and find out which circuit is drawing the most amperage.

Have your alternator tested.

What is your system voltage with the car running? With the car off?

This is not a strange problem.

UPDATE:
tested Audio system all good no parasitic connection.

Ok so i took my alternator and battery to be tested and both are perfectly fine.Starter has current and has always fired up.I upgraded my battery terminals cuz i had a cheap one where it started to crack and may of not provided a good connection. I tried jumping it with a booster but it wouldnt do anything lights would turn on but the starter wouldnt do anything at all. I have tripple checked all fuses. I messed with some wiring I had and checked for any suspect wires. Everything seemed fine so I tryed starting the car and it started strong no hesitation with out a booster. I let it run for a little then shut if off. I let it run for a while to charge the battery if that was the issue. I shut the car off an hour later i come to turn the car on it wont fire back up. Please help guys

This isnt a strange issue.

Check your grounds, try a different battery.

I had the exact same symptoms, mine was a bad battery.

just checked another battery same issue. I also removed the battery and just connected the booster to the terminals witch should make the car turn on and also no luck.

ok so i took out the center console and my radio. And started hearing a clicking noise when I would try to start the car. What is clicking is the starter relay. So I unpluged it and pluged it back in and tryed to start the car, fired right up. I shut it back down and tried to fire it back up no luck. So I unpluged it and pluged it back in and started rite up. So my guess is I have a bad relay. Taking a trip to the junkyard post back results

Just buy a new relay - otherwise you risk having similar issues with old ass parts.

Exactly. They aren't that expensive anyway.
