#130107, "99 Eclipse GS Engine rebuild"

Hello 2gnt, i recently took my car in to have an engine rebuild kit installed:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-99-2-0L-Mitsubishi-Eclipse-Engine-Rebuild-Kit-420A_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3a543f255dQQitemZ250521527645QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

as well as an ebay 4-1 header and under drive pulley, would post pics of the destruction, but don't know how :/

Anyway, the main reason of the rebuild was to have the timing belt/pump replaced as well as all the seals/gaskets (car smoked liked crazy)

The car is automatic so I do not expect much of a performance difference. Maybe I can run a flat 17 lol emoji

The car should be ready today so we will see...

Thanks! I just received my car this evening!

For anyone who is wondering, the ebay header and UDP were good quality and fit to the car well. The ebay UDP was WAY lighter than the stock UDP and provided no problems. The engine rebuild kit also came as described and provided no issues.

(so far)

Performance?

I do not know how much of the difference was made by the header/UDP and how much of it was from the rebuild itself. I would like to think that I regained some lost power from all the gaskets/seals and cleaning made to the engine.

I am pleased with the extra pep. I especially feel a nice difference from 45 - 70 mph on a roll. I have never seen the needle move past 60 so 'swiftly' in my slugger. Still slow.

The car before the rebuild ran around a 17.6 with an intake(automatic tranny). About a second slower than a standard tranny 2gnt. I am planning on running it again to hopefully see ANY difference. I never expected much from an auto 420A, but I am glad to have my daily driver car running well.

teklein,

Hey I was searching about the Jeep TB mod and noticed you created a thread with your experience.

The mechanic did a good job on the rebuild and now I have been considering doing this TB mod. I wanted to ask YOU, regarding the mod:

-Does the car run normal? (my car idles perfect and don't want to funk it up)

-Can you feel a difference? Launch? Throttle response?
