#1300, "Fuel Cut At What RPM? Mine is @ ~7500rpm?"

I was just checking out the archives for the "Top Speeds" post and instead of dragging it out of the Archives,I just thought I'd start a new thread....

I get fuel cut (only once, and out at the shootout no less) at about 7500rpm. This was under HEAVY acceleration, in 2nd gear while going round a big bend and I was more concerned with the bend than my RPM!!!!!!

Actually, my SAFC measured a PEAK rpm of 7549rpm before I got fuel cut. BTW fuel cut sounds like a big bang, and you feel like you just hit a solid concrete wall. In fact I don't know why they don't try to incorporate under extreme braking...

BTW, I keep on finding out discrepancies in our cars, mostly because I have the "weird" version of the 420A DSM - AKA an "early" '95.

I don't think that was a fuel cut, you just hit the rev limiter.

Yeah, unless I'm mistaken you only get fuel cut in 1st gear.

yeah dude, i also think that was the rev limiter cause mine kicks in around them and if i come outta first gear fast and don't shift to second and i hit that bitch then i just lost to whoever i was racing cause it's almost the same feeling as fuel cut. you know hitting a brick wall.

I don't think we need the fuel cut defencer on our cars if that's what you asking, the 95's don't have that sensor thing. But isn't that what a rev limiter is? It cuts the fuel supply to your engine and changes the timing so you can blow up the engine?

No, a rev limiter electronically stops the engine from revving higher. It doesnt cut the fuel. If you over-rev in 1st gear, you will get fuel cut, and it does feel like a brick wall. In all other gears you'll just bounce off the limiter.

Weird.... OK I definitely know that I hit fuel cut (brick-wall-effect) but know that you guys are discussing it further, its starting to make me think...

Actually there is a possibility that I may have been in 1st gear... That would explain it. So you're sure that this doesn't happen in higher up gears right?
