#129716, "Problems starting my car... Sometimes.."

I have been having a long time problem starting my car mostly when I take it on exteded drives or when I burn through the rpms and get her a little warmed up, it's only when I turn the car off to gas up ect. And then try to start her it does nothing. No clicking no cranking nothing. When I give her some time to cool down or sit for 15 mins+ she turns right over and drives fine at that time I'm able to turn the car on and start it mutiple times with no problem. This morning I was able to start the car to go down the street to the store came back home no problem a couple of hours later I was on my way out when the same thing happened but without any driving and a very cool day out and all day it has not been starting. I changed the spark plugs hoping that would be the cheap and easy fix to solve all my problems but to my suprise it wasn't lol another odd note to add is that when I have my brights my car fails to start as well. I'm very new to understanding the components under my hood and lack the knowlege to troubleshoot the problem correctly. If any one can help me or at least better help me understand my problem that would be great I'm sick and tired of having to pay someone for my own ignorance. I'm thinking of replacing the starter first yes or no???

Clean your battery posts and terminals, make sure they are tight, and inspect the grounds.

The spark plugs would have nothing to do with your problems by the way.

Woooow you know I was skeptical at first but I took a wire brush to the battery contacts and she turned right over I really am amazed that something so simple could cause so much grief. Thank you Mr. Teklein you have saved my life lol

I live in Florida, as well. You'll want to clean your battery posts at least every other month. Terminal corrosion is a big problem down here.
