ok guys i changed it the other day.. and its been smoking and stinking of oil..i thought it was just some that i got on something hot...

well i was looking closer at it today and the far left bolt is stripped. the bolt itself is not.. but what it goes into.. i tighten it and it just gets tight then losee and so on.. and u can see the oil over the back of it..

it sucks balls

no since that thing is stripped what can i do.

is it the head thats stripped.. god i hope not>>

uhh... I'm afraid to tell you that you've stripped a bolt hole in your head (you really should invest in a good torque wrench when doing something like that!).

But alas - there is hope for you! They make something called a heli-coil. They are threaded inserts that you can use that are really strong (just as strong as an original... sometimes stronger). I'm a mechanical design engineer and I use them all the time when I design stuff made of aluminum. When you tap into aluminum - it isn't as strong as the steel bolt you are going to use to screw into it. So if you really need some holding power with a threaded hole in aluminum you use a heli-coil (it is basically a steel threaded insert).

You can buy a repair kit at an auto parts store, but if you've never done it before - I would MOST DEFINATELY have somebody at a machine shop do it for you.

What you do is drill the hole a little bigger (there is a specific size for a given thread)... then you tap the hole 1 size bigger than what the bolt is for, so if you have an M4 bolt you would tap an M5 hole. Then you use a special tool to insert the heli-coil into the bigger hole you have made - and then it is back to being a very strong M4 tapped hole - good as new.

dats what they used when sum idiot mechanic used an airtool and stripped my sparkplug hole. satan fixed it for way too much, and the mechanic paid forit, so he got raped. just cost me time, and a lil face.
