#129237, "Timing Problem"

Okay so I changed my timing belt and put on a new water pump today. I aligned the markings as told on the cam gears on this link http://2gnt.com/index.php?d=PROPER_TIMING_MARK_ALIGNMENT. And did the TDC marking on the harmonic balancer I started the car and got a rough idle. So I did the alignment again and still the same am I doing something wrong here? I followed this link too http://www.2gnt.com/index.php?d=Timing_Belt_Replacement and still got the same thing. Can someone tell me what I'm going wrong!!

Did you set the crank pulley back 1 notch, tighten the tensioner, and then rotate it clockwise with them belt on for one full rotation and make sure the marks lined up?

If you lined up the crank pulley strait on the arrow before tensioning the belt, it will move the crank pulley forward when you do.

First the harmonic balancer does not have a TDC mark nor does it need to be as it is not indexed to the crank position.

As far as the rough idle, are you getting any check engine light codes? If all timing marks are dead on and you did not mess with anything else it should be good.

Locked, PMed.

For anyone else, showing up with an alternate username to post the same question because the initial responses hurt your female private parts, this is a quick way to get your ass kicked.

No degradation of the female species intended.
