#129126, "car wont start after timing belt, now im stuck"

I just replaced my timing belt along with installin a set of Crane 14s and AEM cam gears. Got everything back together then realized i had the one came 180* off. so ripped everyhting apart again and fixed that and then retimed everything. now when i try to start the car it just cranks, no start. i did get it to pop off once when i held the throttle wide open, when i left off it died again. When i hold the throttle open i can hear "puffs" coming from the outta the tb. Does that mean the timing is stil off? cars bee sitting for a month also so i dunno if that has something to do with it or not. Anyone have some tips on what i can check?

Have you confirmed fuel delivery & spark?

When you timed the cams, did you pop the valve cover & ensure the two locating holes were @12 o'clock?

then your cams would be 360* out (360* crank that is). The crank & cam sensors would not give an appropriate signal to the PCM. The motor would not run.

Just to clarify - I am not talking about the dowel pins that align themselves into the cam gears. I am talking about the 1/4" drive sized holes between cylinder 1 & 2 that are only visible with the valve cover off.

I do not remember exactly, but it sounds like they are right if one of the cam gear pins is at 12 and the other is at 6. However this must be in concurrence with the crank gear on mark.

With all of that in place you are mechanically timed correctly - you may be experiencing an electrical/signal problem.

the FAQ section has a pic of the way the gears should be and mine match it excatly. I just tried starting it again and it cranks and kinda shutters like it wants to fire then goes back to cranking. now my batteries dead so i gotta charge that.

Back to my original question though... have you verified fuel delivery and proper spark timing?

If you are still on the stock ECU, are there any codes present?
