#129095, "Help With Check Engine Code"

the 97 spyder we just got for my wife is having a problem. the check engine light just came on, runs fine though, autozone checked it and it said idle air control. he cleared it and said maybe i had some bad gas, few miles later, like 40, it came back on. any idea?

Check the resistance of the Idle Air Control Valve. Pull it out, and clean the passage and tip really good.

Im not sure what the values are, as they are different than 420A sensors.

Or just buy a new one.

What is the actual code? There are a few that relate to the idle air control. Take that code and google it.

our cars were built in with a ignition enabled code giver. you turn your key over and off 5 times within a certain amt of time...your CEL light will flash a certain amount of times, for instance 5 times, pause, then 4 times. giving you a 54. theres a chart somewhere around here which will tell you what code 54 is. search keydance. im not sure if the 4g63 has this, id assume it does.

It was just confusing how you asked it. First calling it 4G63's keydance, then saying not sure if 4G63's have it... yeah it confused me emoji It's just keydance

P0505 Idle Control System Malfunction

Read up on OBD trouble codes. They exist for a reason. Check the pigtail/harness and the IAC for bad connections or visible faults. Additionally inspect for excessive build up and clean as needed. If possible source a known good IAC and swap it in and see if that solves the issue.
