im under the impression that the 420a neon head is opposite of the eclipse with intake in the front and exhaust out the back. and if this is so, my main question is are the cams compatible with our head?

i came across a 420a neon head "supposedly" with crane cams but the owner is unsure. if these are compatible, how could i get him to verify what the cams are? is there a spot he could check to find that they are crane and what number they are?

No, the camshafts are not interchangeable between the heads. Think about it - our exhaust cam has the sensor magnet. The camshafts are physically different.
