#128658, "AF/X UDP no more.....?"

Went to my bookmarked page for Howell Automotive to order my UDP, clicked "BUY" and it says "You Are Unable To Add This Product To Your Cart!

Please Contact The Store On Purchasing Information".

So I pick up the phone and call. You can't add the product to the cart, because they don't have them anymore. And probably never will again. Because apparently a 3rd party lost their blueprints for the pulley and something about the machine not working. So much for that. Anyone got an AF/X UDP they wanna sell me? Haha.

Agreed, I was looking to buy a UDP as well for my fix-it fun, and I can't find anything worth looking at on Ebay (all say that they fit both the 420A and 4G63).

I'm sure that a machine shop with one piece in hand would be able to blueprint a new one and create a new machine program.

Yes, the AFX is no more unfortunately. Unorthodox still makes theirs, and if you are not running PS/AC you can buy the neon version from Modern Performance - it is what I am running on my 2.4L.

I just sold my AFX from my 420a to a moderator on the board.

Why not just run an ebay one? They work just fine, the 4g63 has 4 bolts that hold the UDP on, the 420a only has 1 so you know which pulley you need even if they say it fits the 4g63 and 420a. It clearly will not.

I dunno. I guess I'm just not comfortable running something cheap and knock off from ebay on something as vital as the crank pulley?

I was looking as the 2nd gen neon ones on modernperformance, but I still like my power steering. haha

Why not? It's a piece of aluminum turned on a lathe? I'ts already balanced unless somebody put a weight in the alumium while it was still molten.

You click on "choice of color" and every color says "OUT OF STOCK".

2nd Gen Neons have only a 4 rib outer groove as the Neons run a 4 groove belt for PS/AC.

1st Gen Neons run a V-belt for the outer pulley.

2GNTs have 5 rib outer pulley for PS/AC.

The ebay is very well constructed. I found one on a yard car and ran it got a while. It has the same two piece design as the unorthodox udp, making changing belts a breeze. No having to pull the entire pulled off. I scored a good deal on a tti udp, but I'd get the ebay otherwise. Only thing cheap about the pulley is the price.

Your instincts are correct GrassHoppa there are many pulleys out there that will screw up your motor if not right away down the line, Do not be cheap because you will pay more in the long run.
Many metals have been compromised (Made of very low grade materials) which may warp or time which is only meant to pad the pocket or the seller not to do you any favors trying to save you some cash so shop wisely.

Case in point there was a big stink from steel manufacturers here in the US a while back about one of the countries we do business (Sorry I forgot which one) with that flooded the US auto market with low grade steel, Now would you wanna ride in one of those cars?

I have to disagree how will a crank pulley mess your motor up?

I ran a ebay one on my eclipse and put 7k on it and drove the living crap out of that car and I had no issues. It also has alot to do with how well you install it such as actually getting it on all the way.

Just sayin.
