#128410, "Almost like its missing (kind of long)"

To start, I was driving my 2g yesterday, and when ever I would get to a red light, the idle would jump to almost 1500, That didnt so much bother me, cuz my IAC is disconnected at the moment. What bothered me was when the idle came back down. It almost sounded like it was missing, the back of my car is covered in soot, (after only a few days) I pulled the plugs, and they were not that bad off, I have seen them alot worse in a number of peoples cars. My question is, what could be causing that? Would it be because of my IAC, O2(i need to replace it). Sorry, It just has me at a complete loss. There is no vacume leak, everything else seems to be fine,(mechanically sounding). Also when ever I go to accelerate, extremely sluggish, no power, I think it might be missing. Im going to try a compression check after I do another set of plugs. Any input is good input. Thanks for everything. Yall have saved me before.

Sounds like its running super rich and/or you have serious misfire. How old are your coil and wires?

Zeitronix Zt-2 wideband w/ 3.5bar MAP

Honestly, Unkown.
I know that she is running rich, I tested the wires and they are fine. How would I test the coil?
The car is almost exactly how it was when I bought it. All I have done so far is, tires, TPS, fuel filter, fixed the leaks (although I think I may need to do the valve seals). Along with a few other minor things.
I appreciate the input. I think it will be an uphill battle, cuz I also ran the OBD II, and it said that I was running lean. But I know that it is running rich. I thought it was just from the o2 sensor.

Im sure if you search on here you can find how to test the coil. I cant tell you offhand but I have seen posts on it.

You may want to change the O2 sensors if they have never been changed. Also, if it is in fact running rich, there are a variety of reasons why. I would start by checking all your sensors. Since you already swapped out the TPS, check the CLT and MAP.

I would say your hanging idle condition is def due to the lack of a IAC. Clean it out with brake cleaner, make sure the tip still seals correctly, change the o-ring, and plug it back in. Unless there is some other reason you are not currently using it..

I forgot to mention that I already did the coolant temp sensor. Some times the little things slip my mind. I am going to do the plugs and wires in 3 days, I will pull the IAC tomorrow, and clean it up and replace the seal. There was no particular reason on why I pulled the plug, except that it would randomly bog down while I would be driving. At first thought that it was the TPS, then realized while waiting for my tps that if i unplugged the IAC, it ran a lot better(not perfect).
Now, Im off to the "SEARCH" function. LOL.

thanks

btw, call me crazy, but I have never seen a MAP sensor on my 95 GS. I could be wrong. lol.

To check the coil, you need to ohm out both internal coils, primary and secondary. To do the primary's, ohm the center pin of the coil plug to the outside pins, should be ~0.5/0.6 ish Ohms. For the secondary, unplug the spark plug wires at the coil, then measure across the tips for each side (1,4 and 2,3). That should read ~ 12 kOhms or so.

I would suggest pluggin the IAC back in, as the ECU uses spark and IAC to control idle, so with the IAC d/c, it may be trying to adjust using only spark and throwing it all off. If you have a lot of miles on the O2, definitely do that first, and drive it a while to re-learn your trims.

so, I know it has been awhile, been working, and moving, and what not. The latest update, got a new coil, did plugs and wires for the hell of it. Still is acting the same, I pulled the IAC and cleaned everything and plugged it back in. It is actually acting worse. So, I am going to pull the MAF, clean it, and go from there. I just pulled a po300 today, (makes me really worried) I will be getting the O2 on friday, and just trying my best to make sure I can keep my baby alive.
I still have my old coil, so I am going to do the test to see if that had anything to do with it. But, since I switched to a new one, IF my old one is good, I am going to put it back on. To get my funding back to make sure that my car can live.
