So do 95 ECUs just suck that bad or do I have a more serious problem. I have owned 5 95 ECUs, and 4 of them have developed the random stall/no start power loss. I can go one day without a problem, and have it happen 6 times in 3 minutes the next day. I have heard that the problem lies in the ground traces in the ECU. They lift off the board causing a loss of ground and therefore, power. As I said, all but one ECU did this, and that ECU was for an auto car, setting my rev limit to 6500 and generally making my car the suck to drive.
The car is about to be put up for the winter, but what Im most worried about is getting an AFX ECU and having this happen. Im thinking its just bad ECUs, but is there anything that could be causing this?

4 ECUs? Wow. My stock one has been going strong since day one and my car is only 3 months newer than yours IIRC.
Howell doesn't make an AFX for the early 95's though.

Whats the difference in them? The software or the connector. I know my buddy has an early 96 that has the rectangular ECU, when every other 95-96 Ive seen has the square one.
If I cant get an AFX for my current setup, what would you recommend?

Yeah, from what I've seen Howell only makes the AFX ECUs for the 2 plug connector not the single connector that we have.

I've only had one ECU die from the symptom you are describing (loses power for sensors). That is with 12 years of driving. Either you are super unlucky or have some other issue which is masking or contributing. I did battle an intermitently functioning fuel pump relay connector. It would leave me stranded and then start right up later. After using contact cleaner on the harness side of the connector and relay terminals, I refilled the connector with white lithium grease. No issues since.

Im not sure what would be causing it at all. I have no other problems besides this. And I know its the ECU doing it because when one starts doing it really bad, almost undriveable, I swap in another one and its fine for a while, then starts to go out again. Test that ECU in someone elses car and they have the same problems I did.
I did some thinking a while ago though. Since Im having problems with ECUs, and the likelyhood of me getting a true 95 AFX ECU are low, and even if I did it its over $400 and I have to wait at least 4 months.....Im thinking about just going to MS.. Its only a few hundred more and offers full tunability. It will probably be a tough install for me and Ill have to learn how to give my car a good tune, but this way I can get the most out of my cams (and mods to come) and bypass the stock ECU completely, save for maybe the fans and a few other small parts. My car is getting put away around the 20th, so I will have from then until the snow melts to work on it in a garage.
