Has anyone EVER TRIED or planned to put a small block in a 2g? I got curious because I just got a connect at a driveshaft shop and was wondering if you could mate up a chevy driveshaft to a GSX Driveshaft and use a beefed up GSX rear with a different axle ratio. Thus having a smallblock chevy RWD Eclipse. I'm sure there are some drastic fabrications that will need to be made (ie clutch system, Shift knob location, etc) and I'm sure I'm overlooking some serious points. Like would it even fit? Just curiously dreaming.

Look on youtube. There's a red eclipse converted to rwd with a chevy 350 smoking the rear tires. Looks kind of cool. Would I do it? Hell no! Would I tell anyone else to do it? If you are rich and money doesn't matter... go for it. But I do agree with the above post.
I CONTRIBUTED TO THE WIKI! ah... turbo. I love the turbo, the boost, the speed, the sound. and its all better when you do it yourself. cheaper too.

It's like putting a small block in a focus. Neat to see, yes....worth it, no unless you got tons of money to spare and are willing to cut a 2g to make it fit.

Even if you have the money, why? Just buy a GSX, convert it to RWD, stroke it, boost 90psi, and run 6.80's at 1400RWHP like Brent Rau did. I believe they spent 200k on it, but money doesn't matter right? lol and you'll still be faster with a 4 banger than you could get with a small block, and less fab!

Youd have better luck with a ford 9 inch, I really came close to buying a wrecked 99 mach 1 and trying to fab it up. The mustang 4.6 will fit with some help i already checked it out BUT you will have to beef up the entire frame or run a tub e frame to support the extra weight and torque and run a a set of way stiff springs.

If i recall this was first done about 3 years ago. THe red one on you tube might be the same one or not but its the most recent post floating around the various DSM forums
