I've used the searched came up short for my question/concern about the replacement removal/install.
I've been losing fuel for the past month, I noticed a leak near the tank, one morning. While I was doing some yard work. Bought a new filter ordered a chiltons, from same store.
Question, is the fuel filter at an location for easy removal and installation of new filter without dropping the tank.
I'm lost here, I've changed many filters on my old Cutlass never had problems, for replacing it.

I thought this would help others with their 2g, when the time comes for the replacement.

Answer: Yes.
For the later model years, the filter is attached to the chassis by a brace and two bolts, in front of the passenger side wheel well. Make sure you have a line wrench so that you don't strip the hard line nuts as your remove the fuel lines from the filter.
Be thankful you are doing this for a 420a and not a 4g63, the latter job is a PITA.

Thanks, I was thinking about using a flare wrench, chiltons state use a backup wrench doesn't say which type and also in same book it states the opposite to relieve the fuel pressure, I'll try this too. In the past I use a towel covering it to avoid the spray.
Yes, I am thankful that I bought an 2g 420a instead of an 4g63. The underdog is less stress to work on. Example, I read in my chiltons for the fuel pump replacement. The turbo model would have to remove sections of the exhaust for dropping the tank, talk about a fire hazard just my opinion.
