#125605, "Car shuts off"

Ok i have a 98 eclipse rs. I just got it out the shop because they said the ecu died. Well I was driving today and it cut off. I wouldn't start at all. I sat for a while and kept trying then it cranked. So i got it home and it did it again. Same syptoms wouldn't start at first then it cranked. Now i also have recently replaced crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor within the last 2yrs. What could be causing this.

That would be rare. I haven't seen a "Brand new" ecu for our cars in a long time. That would be expensive.

Jiggle test all connections with the engine running and inspect for wires melted against the EGR pipe.

Im thinking its my radio thats causing it to do this. Yesterday i rode with radio off and the car didnt shut off at all. But i do remember that when the car would shut off i had the radio on so maybe theres something there signaling the anti theft. I will probably just take the whole radio out and ride this weekend to be sure, but we found that if i put the key in the door and unlock and lock it 3 times then the car would crank right up. But that gets tiring so imma just take the radio out completely and see how it goes from there

Well I just talked to him and he told me that the anti theft keeps coming and shutting the car down as i drive. Something is coming on and making the anti theft activate but he doesn't know whats causing it yet.

If the antitheft is a ground interupt then jump it with a switch until you figure it out for sure.
