#125357, "VC gasket choices?"

Hey all. When I checked my plugs yesterday I noticed a slight seeping of the valve cover gasket inside the plug wells. Is that normal?

The #1 cylinder looked to have a tiny drop of coolant on the oil seepage.

There's no oil in the water or water in the oil but my coolant overflow tank was empty. It's only beed a few thousand miles since I last topped it off. No external leaks.

If I need to replace the gasket are there any preferences on brand/material?

Thanks!

There are 4 little circle gasket things for the spark plug wells. They should come with the valve cover gasket.

I got the fel-pro one from RockAuto. I think it was like $15, and it came with the spark plug gasket things. I'm sure you could get one at your local auto parts store.

Yeah, I've been checking around. Anywhere from $9 to $18. Fel-Pro is good. Just didn't know if there was some hi-tech ones out there with an honest gimmik.

It is just a Valve Cover. I would not over think it. Go with a trusted brand. Fel Pro wil work well. Or get an OEM one.

+1

Make sure the RTV is placed correctly around the half moon and around the other spot. I forget which ones they are. Other than that, a VC gasket is a VC gasket emoji

Follow corbins write up if you've printed out a copy.

OK, looks like a FelPro.

I did read a few write ups in the search. I'll check Corbin's too, thanks.

I'm putting it on blocks sometime in May. My friend said I could use his driveway and I'm doing 5 mods, fuel pump/filter & timing belt.

Thanks everyone!
