If you had to choose between an Apexi Dunk universal muffler (would need to be welded on by a shop) or a 5 Zigen Border Slash rear section (bolts right on to last exhaust pipe flange, replacing stock muffler (obviously )), what would you pick? Both are $149, the Dunk I can pick up, so I'll save on shipping but it will have to be welded on, costing a couple bucks; where as the Zigen will need to be shipped but I can bolt on myself, anyone know what shipping would cost for just a rear section like that? Shipping would be within CA (from NoCal to SoCal).
5 Zigen quality is comparable to the Apexi, so quality isn't an issue, but SOUND quality would be. What is the tip size on the Border Slash? I had a Fireball rear section on my 99 Civic (when I had a Civic) and it sounded awesome and the quality was great. I'm torn, I like the idea of no shipping, but I'd rather retain the stock piping incase I need to restock the car for some reason.

i run just the 5zigen muff, and it sounded great after i swapped resonators off the psetter. with the stock resonator (bigger than psetter) i think you will be fine. also, you might gain a slight bit more with zigen cuz the wider piping over the axle, and mandrel, not pressed.

I'd go with the 5Zigen if it's really only 149?? Are you sure it's that cheap for a real 5Zigen muffler? There's a lot of fake ones now. If I remember right, the universal Fireball muffler alone is over 200 bucks without any piping.

well, the fireball looks tight! but since its straightthrough, it didnt sound too well with the pacesetter tubage.
i would get it installed, see if ya like it, and if its not to your liking, cut your resonator out, and replace with a cherrybomb. 20bux for resonator, and 20 bux to weld it in.
just ta make u jealous, i got my zigen fo free

apexi dunk universal WILL NOT PROPERLY FIT ON OUR CARS. i cant stress that enough. its way too big doesnt have a proper offset that we need. and if your car is lowered you will scrape. it does sound nice. but it wont work on our cars unless you get the full catback.
