I thought I would post some pictures of my homemade grounding kit. It cost me about $20.00 or so from Home Depot. I used 4guage stranded wire and some standard crimps ends. I think the job came out pretty well. I haven't ran a cable from the alternator as of yet because it seems like a lot of work at the moment. If you see anything I can approve on, please tell me!

Idle is much smoother and lights are brighter. The car also feels like it responds a bit better than before. Can't go wrong for $20.

I've been considering this for a while now. My car doesn't even have the factory strap to the firewall. I've searched the wiki and can't find the answer I want.

Where do the leads connect? Are those ebay kits ok or should I just fab my own? Anyone on here still make kits? Thanks.

ok, so can we say OVERKILL!? I agree that a ground kit is definately a good investment, but DUDE! c'mon now. Why did you ground everything to everything? And why not hide anything? not exctly appealling to the eye. Maybe you know something about it that i dont. so all in all, GOOD JOB, but isnt it a bit much?

That's what I'm after is the instruction. I didn't see it in the wiki. Guess I'll have to dig deeper. I'm going with one of the 8ga. ebay universal ones. Shipped for under $25.

hello, i am new to this site, i have built my mother a 2gnt and i also used a home made grounding kit, but one thing that i found through voltage testing is one thing to also do, our ground wire to the starter from the battery. if you look, what are the two peices that the ground wire is bolted to, an aluminum case of your tranny, and a aluminum starter, what when it comes to metals is one of the least conductive, move the ground from the starter bolt to the next bolt up, where it bolts through the block ear, moving it on my mothers yealded a 33amp reduction upon starting and it boosted constant idleing voltage .4 volts, i will take pics and post on here of my exact setup.

you will have to give me a few to figure out how to get the pics on here, ill go take them rite now, excuse the dirty engine bay, havnt had the time lately to clean moms car, been building my 91 and workin way too much, i might need help getting pics on here, if needed can you assist?

mail me exactly how to do it on DSMking91@aol.com. i have many pics to post and exactly the way i was told to use the grounding kit correctly, i just happened to figure out the negitive battery cable idea one day when i was replaceing the starter wire and ground wire, it was sheer curiousity that led me to test the amp draw n voltage before and after i moved it

the way i was told to properly use a grounding kit is to return all peices of metal that has a sensor attached to it that has a gasket seperateing it from another peice of metal with a sensor back to the battery... i have grounded the TB once, the intake once and then led one from there to the firewall, one from the thermostat housing, two from the head, one from the bolt that bolts the ECU to the bracket, that way the bolt is going directly into the ECU, and then the one from the battery to the strut tower, i also upgraded the crappy battery terminals and the power and ground wire to stinger pro series 4gauge stereo power wire, i noticed a difference in the way the car idled, the HIDs seemed to be a bit more crisp, but i did notice that the guage lights seemed brighter, it might have been my imagineation but i thought i noticed a difference on the top end pull, could be wrong though.
