#124746, "JE Piston wall clearance .011 !!!?"

Hi guys, i spun a bearing last fall, and the engine is now @ the machine shop, he calls me and tells me my clearance is off by 11 thousandths!! wtf? I belive JE spec are .0038-.0004 correct?

my pistons are 20 OVB, and he said he can fit a 30OVB in there perfect..
idk wtf if
A) he is measuring wrong,
B) my piston has a crushed skirt
C) the first machine shop messed up...

i have bout 4k on the engine and i haven't had an issue really..besides the oil starvation of course....but i have seen very little blow by, my oil catch can only gets a few drops..id assume if it were so grossly out of spec id see issues...he also told me i have other issues b/c the top of my pistons have carbon on the.. i thought that was normal.. and nothing an sos pad and cleaner wouldn't fix...
i do have piston slap but who doesn't? can some one help clarify or point out what issues there might be, ie if hes could be measuring wrong or if that 11 thousands is reasonable...

JE 8.8:1 20 OVB

That first machine shop may have messed up. But I would agree if that really was that far off I would assume you'd have blow by really bad like if you had blown rings or something. What do you mean when you say "Piston slap"?

piston slap is a normal "issue" with forged internals, esp @ cold start.. idk, all my comp tests came back really well.. 180-195's across the board... im hoping that since hes a V8 na guy that his method of meausring is not what JE uses... im hoping.. otherwise, if my pistons are in good shape it would be cheaper to find a stock block and go from there..
