I have been hearing light thumping noise from under my hood. I found rubber strands coming off the shaft of the PS assembly. I pulled the rest of the rubber which appeared to be wrapped around the shaft. Not sure if this was from a belt I shredded (looks like it is from a belt but that would have been a few months ago) or if the shaft has a rubber coating that fell apart? Looks to me like it was part of the PS assembly so I'm not sure if I am going to need to replace it or it will be fine without it?

Had to have been from a belt.
