#123625, "Buying a gst for parts.."
Jan-18-09 09:38 AM by Pitt

Well there is a Gs-T for sale but the body isn't in good shape. I have a Rs and want to buy the gs-t so I can use a few of his parts MOSTLY interior parts.
I want to use his seats and stuff like that but I want to know what else I can use maybe motor parts from his engine as I read the 4g63 internals are stronger so maybe I could swap out few motor parts as well??
Thing is I want to go turbo but don't want to swap (not worthed)and don't want to use the gst and put body parts of my rs on it.. So if there are any parts I can use of the gst it will take my cost down hopefully..

Note: the page about going turbo from scratch the links ain't working and think it's a very important page

Want to know what all I can use to see if the things I can use/swap are worthed the money to buy the car

Interior and body is the only thing you can use off of it basically. Nothing under the hood can be used. You can pull the rear brakes off and convert your drums to discs. That's about it. Depending on the condition of the body I personally would take parts off the RS and swap onto the gs-t but it depends on the situation whether or not the gs-t has a clean title or whether it was totalled, etc.

haven't seen the car yet am going tomorrow to see it.. but just wanted to know. A friend mine also needs the head maybe, are there different heads for the 4g63 engines? because he said something about needing a head with the crankshaft or camshaft sensor located behind one of the cam gears orso and the one he has i located in the front didn't understand him quite well..
So I can't use pistons not even wit slight mod nor and sensors??

there are differences between the 1st and 2nd gen 4g63 heads, if your friend has a 420a, they wont work at all.

hahahaha i've read everywhere that they are different the 420a and the 4g63 but there is always someone that has to differ so I thought i'll ask the experts.. The other one is also a 4g63 a gst, but they guy said that there are different heads and the onlu difference is where the canshaft sensor is located. if fits and bolt on it but due to the sensor location he can't use the one he has now..

The thing is they are selling the gst for $800 and I wanna take interior parts like seats and dash parts maybe even doorpanel parts because mine is scratchy it stood too long in the sun before i bought it so even the color is fading

You can use the disc brakes, the axle back exhaust, Side mount intercooler, fogs, BOV???, that's about it. no need for the tiny ass GST turbo. you will want to buy a bigger one anyway, externally gated.

Well gonna take as much as I can and sell the rest as parts to try to get as much money as possible back..
there are a lot of tiny things I can't get from the internet but that I need and the junkyard here where I live doesn't have squad, like 1 2g and it's stripped to it's bones..
But Interior, some exterior parts like side mirrors and windshield gonna try using his rubber the one that goes on the door (the one I can't find nowhere) disc brakes, bov, sidemount, maybe the exhaust mentioned above and many more things...

Thx for the help guys..
