Question, kinda odd, and I think the answer is yes but...
The fittings on the pressure/feed line, the ones that screw into the rubber hose on the fuel rail and the rubber hose on the fuel pump, are they year specific, or does a '98 use the same fitting as a '95?

I think the only difference between the 95 rail and the rest is that the 95 has a feed line and a return line. As far as I know the feed line has the same fitting.

Yes, I will snap some pics tonight. My car is a 98 so the fuel filter is back by the rear passenger wheel. I also have the feed line to the fuel rail. inverted flare to the 2 bolt o-ring fitting thing.

I have completely removed my stock fuel system and replaced it all with aluminum an lines and fittings with a 6an fuel rail, pump, filter, etc. so these parts are just laying around now.

I know what your going through, i was trying to find a female fitting so i could use the factory feed line as my return from the aeromotive fpr. I ended up cutting the factory rubber fuel line after the union to put a -4an barb fitting since the I.D. of the line is about 5/16. Its a damned metric male fitting, I belive to be 1lmm (or so according to the guy at the local NAPA who put it in a size template). I'm hoping to still have the female end on my parts car so i again put it in the back by the factory fuel filter to connect to another barb fitting and run that up to the pump return barb. If i can get these fitting off i'll hack them off and let you know.

what I'm talking about is what screws into those, the fittings from the hard line. I'm pretty sure Ivan's looking for the same thing I am. You'd have to hacksaw the fittings off of the hard line.

ahh. gotcha. well they are inverted flare fittings. hacksawing them off would render them useless. here is a pic. A -6an fitting fits, but since its an inverted flare fitting you have to really seal it up to make it work.

Wow, you tightened a -6an hose end onto the fitting. You've never had any issues w/ leaks I take it? That makes me nervous, after watching the showdown 1g burn down at the Buschur event last year i'm a little squirmish about fuel fittings emoji I also watched my boy Dans' VR4 (the FP vr4 driven by CurtBrown into deep 10's) burn at our norwalk rental. Needless to say i'm a little worried about losing my ass on this investment.

What i'm in the process of doing : i took the factory rubber line before the banjo fitting (from the feed barb on the pump housing) and cut it close to the compressed end and used a -4an barb fitting, then a -4an to -6an reducer fitting, then -6an line all the way up to the rail.

Nice jb weld emoji BTW did you put that male fitting on your return line barb? Mine is literally just a barb to slip the hose over and nothing more. I plan to just put a 5/16 line on it w/ a few hose clamps and call it a day. I was also under the impression the feed line was braised to the female fitting, is this why jb weld is involved?

Heres a graphic repesentation of what i'm talking about.

Use this fitting (but a straight one)

Insert it in the rubber line after cutting around the red line, add clamp and your all set.

What you are seeing is the stock feed line is now feeding a -6AN fitting to 3/8" aluminum line to filter to custom -6AN fuel rail...etc.
the JB welded part is a -6AN right angle bulkhead fitting for the 3/8" return line with -6AN fittings. I welded the old return closed, its the top most one. I have never had a problem with it leaking. I ran it without the backseat for a couple months and checked it all the time with baking powder etc to see if there were any leaks at all. nothing. While not the 100% perfect solution, it works and has worked for others as well...

Quoted directly from Metaljim who did the end all write up on a 3/8" return AN fitting fuel line system:

The situation is - the fuel pump outlet has an male fitting on it, but it is not an actual JIC fitting. JIC fittings have a 37 degree seat on them and this particular fitting does not. I don't know exactly what it is, but my guess is that its either a fitting that is specific to DC that shares the same exact thread as the -6AN JIC fitting(9/16-18) OR it is a National Standard Free-Fitting Straight Mechanical Pipe Thread (NPSM). NPSM has the same sizes as what you normally would call pipe threads(NPT and NPTF), but they are not tapered....and 1/4" pipe is 35/64-18 which is 1/64" smaller than the -6AN JIC but it has the same thread pitch. Whatever it is, a -6AN female fitting screws onto it nicely.

So what did I do? I put teflon tape on the male outlet and used a -6AN female JIC fitting for my main fuel line. It does not leak. It has not leaked ever - and its been on there for more than a year at this point.

As you can see, Metaljim whom I give total credit to for the write-up did it with his as well... I just used a little JB weld for extra security against the return fitting vibrating loose thats all.

The pics you posted at Jun-01-06 05:57 PM are exactly what I'm talking about.
I was hoping that I could buy some Aluminum line from summit or something and put these fittings on it, but you're saying it's an "inverted flare fitting"? I'm not 100% on what that means so I'll do a google on that real quick but if you left enough hard line when you cut it, couldn't I just put a tube-nut and -AN fitting on the other end? I'd figure that would work too, and it would definately fit my goals.
Like I told Mr Blunt, I'm trying to have two fuel systems next to eachother, one stock and one with all the Aeromotive bits. If I do that then I can switch back to stock completely for smog trips and they can't bitch cause it's running the stock system.

Well I can certainly cut off the original one in the engine bay for you no problem with lots of tail. I'm not sure of the OD on that stock line to tell you what size tube nut adaptor to use on it. I can measure it when i get home tonight. As you can see though, I re-used the stock one back at the tank so i obviously cant give you that one. heh.

actually keith I was going the MR Blunt / AZDAVE route. DJ Those hoses are exaclty what i need, have the fuel filter FPR section? Im sure youve seen what AZ dave did and thats what Im looking for.

Also, still have that 1/4 or was it 5/16 line?

Keith, I have a book that explains fittings, wish i would have known I could have let you borrow it. It made it a whole lot clearer to me.

I havent seen what AZdave did. I would be interested in seeing it just for kicks. I do still have that 5/16 line if you want that too. I'm pretty sure I no longer have the stock fpr part but i can dig through my garage tonight when i get home. If you want these hoses and the 5/16" then i can ship them all together. let me know what you want to do.

yea, ok, duh. I do remember that thread now, since i posted in it. hehe. tit retainers. I remember now. I will scrounge around tonight and see if i can find the stock fpr piece. I know I removed it along time ago and replaced it with the screw in -6AN -> 12mm fitting.

12mm fine thread. sometimes it is listed as-

Carburetor Adapter Solex, Dellorto, Mikuni

on anplumbing.com it is part # 991945

that takes it from the fuel filter outlet to a -6an male port. from there you can get a -6anfemale to socketless 3/8 hose adaptor or just use -6 SS lines all the way.

Another option to using the factory line is to make a coupler to join the 6an male to the factory fitting. A 6an and factory fitting heva the same threads. I made a few of these couplers but never used them. I used a 3/8 alum line from tank to engine bay and the factory lien as a return.

I don't remember being able to make it match up. I tried a 3/8 pipe thread (I think it was 3/8) and a -6AN, I was never comfortable enough with either to make it work.
