It does not say if they are NHRA legal or not. Does anyone know?

It's not sealed. I suspect it's not legal. Pretty sure you need to have the entire kit - sealed box, vent tube, securely bolted in, and all that.

I had the Moroso blue one in my Neon.

Yeah I have kill switch. Its going to go in the center tail lamp housing. Fuck, I really did not want to spend $100 on a battery box. There has to be more legal battery boxes out there for cheaper.

According to the research I have done online on legal trunk/hatch mounted battery boxes, as long as the J hooks that hold the battery/box down to the body are welded closed, it makes it NHRA legal. You must also have a shut off switch and a vent tube going to the outside of the vehicle.

Can anyone confirm this for me?

thought about it, but how do they consider it to be 'sealed' ?

is there a rubber gasket or something that seels the lid to the box?

Pretty much. From what I understand they want it sealed in case anything happens and the battery bursts. All the gases need to vent outside of the vehicle. Something about acid vapors being kinda harsh if you inhale them.

yeah, IIRC my friend got his to pass and it was ~18ga sheet metal that he bent to shape, welded together and put a few vent tubes in place. I think he used parts of an oil pan gasket for his seal and had the top bolted in place.

NHRA legal requires the battery box to be completely sealed with a vent to the exterior of the vehicle. Batteries give off fumes during operation and those fumes are very caustic to inhale.
