Hey everyone. Well today my car died at a stop light. I check and there was no spark. I have an msd coil, I took that off and then replace with it my stock. No good. I just did some researching and readed that the msd coil could go bad anytime, and then fry the Cam Position Sensor. Is this possible? I also readed that my Crank Position Sensor could be bad or perhaps my ECU could be fried. Is there any way that I could pinpoint which problem it is? (test light, volt meter, ecu codes, scan tool, etc...) Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can get a Haynes manual and read how to test the cam and crank sensors to find the culprit or you could replace both cause the other is surely as old as the other. Also the ecu could be f'd up. Test another juckyard ecu.

ahh I have an Chilton, doesnt get into detail much about testing. Well it wouldnt matter now. I did a key dance and got codes 54 and 11. Those have to do with cam and crank position sensors. I was kinda skeptical for those both to go out at the same time. So I also check my timing. Took the timing inspection case off, and thats when my heart sank. My belt had broke..

oh dear load pull the head and report the news.....hopfully since you were stoped at a light you didnt fuck too much up

Ah sorry for long reply and bringing this back from the dead. But I want to let those who reply to this know what happen. Well It happens that my idler bearing went bad and shredded the belt. The idler was literally sitting there sideways, and i retreive the little bearing balls from the bottom of the timing cover case.I replace the timing belt, both bearings and waterpump. And started it back up and it ran fine, idle at 900. My vacuum sits around @19psi, pretty close to what before. And did compression and had low compression in cylinder. I beleive that because that one time I hydrolock lol. But other then that it holds up fine. I was pretty happy, 420A powa!!!!
