I figure with all the MS and other electronic matters here, you guys would have some good recommendations.
I'm working on a project for the eclipse using microcontrollers. They need a stable 5v supply, so I'm using MIC2954 Voltage regulators at every input, a 1uF capacitor at the output pin and 0.1uf cap at the input pin, and fuses at every input. I'm considering using diodes at the inputs for reverse voltage protection too, but am unsure as to what size to get.
Does this setup look reliable? I don't want to fry any chips
EDIT: I was simply going to buy a switchmode power supply, like we use for cell phone car chargers, for the power supply. But I also have 4 inputs into the microconroller in addition to the power supply, so I needed to set up protection at each of those inputs.

Sounds like overkill. They tend to be pretty wide on the operational range on most chips and ICs these days.
