#123025, "EGR cel / code 32 / highway stalling / fuel cut phantom"

I went over the EGR system this weekend and found some trouble points that people may want to expect if they get a cel 32 and the occasional highway stuttering that seems like it may be fuel cut, especially when the cel disappears for a while.

First off, the proximity of the the vacuum lines and electrical wiring of the EGR system to the head/valve cover is troublesome. After working on the car for whatever reason, it is easy to leave something against the head. The wiring or the vacuum lines may melt as a result, and the vacuum lines are brittle to begin with. Check all around the lines and wires and make sure they aren't melted through or blocked. Upon close inspection, I found that the vacuum line running from the intake mani to the EGR solenoid was the culprit for my problem. It didn't make sense, being that the cel and the stalling were rare and intermittent, and there was a gaping hole in the line. But there it is, just as usual, the DSM makes no sense.

Figured I would post for the benefit of others. after replacing the line with rubber vacuum tubing, I had one more stutter and one more intake backfire shortly after, and then everything (so far) then went back to normal. good luck

hello,

i know this is more than a year old post...but i do have the same problem.

I got code 32, replaced the EGR unit; both plastic part and the metal part, but i am still getting code 32.

I think my vaccum line is the problem. The dealer no longer carrys the part.

Where and which vaccum line did you use???

Thanks!

not really an Eclipse, but I do have an Eclipse center console, if that counts..
