My car gets hot after I accelerate.
Has this happen to anybody?
What could it be?

well, u have 4 holes in a metal block that hold explosions and then fart them out the exhaust. that creates heat.

what part of the car is gettin hot? the hood?

you need to describe your problem better, imo.

maybe your engine temperatures, check your coolant level and around your thermostat.

It the engine temp gauge. It gets hot after I accelerate.
The temp gauge goes past the middle and stays there, comes back to normal which is a little under the middle.
It just started to do this today.

well, the guage works off the thermostat thats located by the upper radiator hose. you may have to replace it, add more coolant, or flush your old coolant and replace it. you can try watter wetter, a product that reduces the coolant temp/engine temps by like 20 degrees.

when my radiator cap was busted, to solve the high engine temps, i would turn the heat up all the way, to draw the heat from the engine away from it. i eventually fixed the problem.

ok its possible that your water pump is going out on you, or that your thermostat needs to be replaceded.. also check to make sure your radiator fans are working and when you turn your ac on that both fans are working then.

It was the thermostat. Put a new one in and the car is back to normal.

Hey, how much for the thermostat? I'm also having the same problem, but I'm pretty sure it isn't the water pump since I just had that changed. And all my fans are fine and I have enough coolant. Thanks for the info.

It was $7.50 w/tax. I got it at Autozone but later went to Kragens and thay had a lifetime one for the same price so get it there. Also don't forget the gasket. I went looking all over town for it but could not find it. So I just went to a chrysler dealer and got it there for $2.15 w/tax (part# 5278086).
