So pulling into work today i'm i hear this sound that sounds kind of like when you don't quite make it into reverse. Well i didn't think much of it until i came back a couple hours later and heard it before i put the car in gear. I open the hood, and it sounds like a busted ball bearing or something coming from right below the timing belt, any ideas on what it could be...I hate not driving it...no where around here is open tommorrow.

That was my first thought to check the belts and pulleys and everything seemed fine, it's kind of more of a knocking noise and if i jiggle the plastic casing that goes around the timing belt and the cam gears the noise changes a little.

Sounds like something I witnessed not too long ago when my crankshaft sprocket broke. I doubt that's it though.
The best thing for you to do is not drive it anymore until you take off the crankshaft pulley and the timing belt cover and check what's going on inside.

Yeah, as soon as i heard it i drove it right down the street to the garage and parked it. Turns out the water pump was installed incorrectly, and i'm getting it fixed for free (along with getting my lightweight underdrive pulley put on for free ) Thanks for the suggestions!

Haha, yeah...i was kind of wondering the same thing....when i called for the update on the situation they suddenly changed their minds and said the idler pulley got fkdz.

Def take this as a time to make sure that ALL of your pulleys are good. My idler pulley broke into 2 pieces, and left me with 16 bent valves on my 2.2L with only 11,000 miles on it.
