I'm wondering whats the easist way to remove our engine. I was thinking about just pulling it out the top, but then a friend said when his brother had his eclipse engine replaced they took it out by droping it down and pulling it out the bottom. So whats the consensis, thru the top or bottom???
Also any info they will help me to get it out smoothly and save any time is appericated emoji

If you have access to a car lift, it may be easier to take it out the bottom. But if you're only working with a jack and jack stands, you may not be able to get the front of the car high enough to slide the motor out from underneath it. I would think you would also have to drop the tranny if you took it out from below.

Go through the top. Less work involved.

Yeah just buy or rent a cherry picker, get a good heavy duty piece of chain and take her out through the top.

And BTW how are you going to get the motor out without removing the trans? Either take it off before or take it out with the motor.

Well i also plan on taking out the tranny, cause i nee to install my new clutch.
So what was the hardest part about the whole job? Just that it takes time? Or is there some parts that are a b$tch to get off, ect..

The hardest part when I pulled my motor was popping the CV shafts out! The driver side was so rusted on, that the end mushroomed when trying to hammer it out!

dude just unhookd the accessories, all the wires, and remove the drive shafts, and pull the engine out from the top WITH the tranny. Here's a pic of me taking it off of an avenger.

Oh yeah, remove the front/rear/side motor mounts =)

If you hook up the chain to the stock engine hoist points on the 42a, the engine tilts to the right in about 45 degree angle from the weight of the tranny...perfect for sliding it out:

feel free to check out the rest of the pics on my site...goes through the unbolting the tranny off too.

Oh, dont mind the crazy pictures heh
