Ok I got a confusion problem here. If the 2 notches on the cam gears and together in the center of the cam gear bolts and the crank is on tdc why would i still bend mad valves and have the engine lock up on me? I know it probably doesnt matter but does you have to keep track of the direction the belt is running in? In the chiltons book it says mark the timing belt before you take it off so you can put it back going in the same direction. which doesnt make sense. Im reusing my belt cause i only have about 10k miles on it. could it be that the engine locked up on me because i moved the crank to tdc without having all the valves up while putting it in time? I know it was in time ive done it 3 times but last time it wouldnt turn over it would lock up at half a rev. I'm trying to figure out what im doing wrong cause i just swapped the block from one eclipse to a different body i just got and i dont wanna do the same mistake again. Right now there is no head on the block i havent put it on then put on the cam gears yet..

yeah after i tighten the belt with the tensioner its right on tdc. isnt that where its suppose to be ? I had it miss timed like that the first time i timed my car and it would fire before the pistons would come all the way up it was working against itself for like a couple of months before i retimed it. these engines are strong.
