#12122, "Intake popping noise....Help!!!"

Ok this all started about two weeks ago.......when I begin to accelerate the intake will make a loud pop, now this doesnt happen every time just most of the time.... Now my car bogs at all RPMs and feels very sluggish, along with popping noises from what i believe to be the intake. Any thoughts on what it could be would be grately appreciated. Thanks

Did you check the filter (if you have K&N or something like that it might be dirty) or the hose that runs from the intake to the engine?

hm...are you sure its the intake? Check the spark plugs. When they are not tightened down correctly they can make a popping sound as the vacuum pops the wires off the plugs.

Does the car feel like it loses power in the top end but feels ok at the low end? Thats what mine did along with the popping from the intake (intake backfire) and it was caused by a broken rocker on one of the exhaust valves so only 1 valve was opening on cylinder #2.
You may want to pull the valvecover off to inspect the lifters and rockers.

I just baught new spark plugs about a month ago, I'm not positive that is my intake but thats what it appears to be. I just baught a K&N 2 weeks ago so its not dirty.......The car does lose power at the top end, it feels real sluggish, and occasionally at bottom end. It also makes a gurgling noise likes the air is being sucked in, in bubbles or something.LOL, poor job of explaining I know! I'll look at the ideas y'all gave me.Thanks

ok I took my car into a local shop and got it hooked up to a diagnostic machine. It turns out that cylinder 2 is misfiring, so I am assuming that i need a new spark plug or wire(But then again i am car illiterate so forgive me)....Which plug is cylinder 2, I mean what order are they in? Could it be anything more serious than a spark plug? Thanks for all help

IMO spark plugs are cheap so just go ahead and just replace all four. Don't mess with just changing one of them you will have some inconsistancy. Same goes for the wires, you can pick up a good set for a pretty decent price.

Yup, Spend $30 on new plug wires and plugs and see what happens.
