#120910, "P0172 and missing at idle"

Hi guys,

I just finished rebuildng the head on my 96 RS. I bought the car with a bent valve, took it apart replaced the two exhaust valves in the #3 cylinder, cleaned everything up and re-assembled.

Now I'm having problems with rough idle. It runs good at 1200rpm and above but chugs at idle. OBD2 say P0172.

Any Ideas?

that's the code for running rich. I also have that code right now. Could be a vacuum leak, o2 sensor, fuel regulator, or possibly map sensor.

I've yet to figure out my rich condition.

Ok I checked the MAP sensor and it seams ok. I replaced the O@ sensor no change. After I did these I reset the OBD2 ran the car for about an hour, mostly idle, and the code did not come back. The idle is still eratic, seams to be hunting, is still missing at idle.

I pulled the plugs and all are showing carbon. Ran a compression check to see if I did the valves right and they match all cylinder about 190 to 200 PSI.

Still trying...
