#120823, "Motor build. Some insite please!"

I started my weekend project about 2 weeks ago. I picked up a 94 Mitsu Eclipse. It now has a 1.8 and a auto trans (blown). So my plan is to remove the motor and trans and drop in a 2.0 with a standard Trans. I figured i have a shaved head from a 2.0 and a dodge neon 2.0. I figured hell of a plan. WRONG. I ran into my first road bump today, after spending about 10 hours cleaning and painting up the motor... So after i painted the block todays i let it cure and decided to test fit the new head. Turns out my head doesnt match the block. If i line up one end the bolt wholes seem to be about a 1/2 short on the opposite end. So i pondered upon this and remembered i pulled the motor from a 96. My first thought was OH SHIT the motor is a left over from 95. Well indeed it is. So i called up a local parts store where i know a bunch of people and had them look up a head gasket for a 97 and a 95 neon, P# indentical.
Know that my block is a single over head block (1995) and my head is a dual.
What is gone wrong?
Any help would be Greatly appreciated
Thanks alot
Jarod March

There should be no differece at all. And why are you going to swap a 420a into a 4g63 car? Makes no sense at all. Who is going to make the custom motor mounts and the wiring harness and all kinds of other stuff you need? Save time and either swap in another 1.8, 4g63, or sell the car

I'm confused, you got bought a 94 eclipse, and it came with a 1.8L from a 95? They didn't make a 1.8 in 95. It would help if you told us what engine codes, i.e. 4g63 2.0 or 420a 2.0, I'm just really confused.

As from what I can tell, he bought a 1.8 first gen, motor/tranny blew, had a spare 420a from a 95 (head) 96 (block) and is going to swap it in, and a MTX tranny

That's about as much sense as I could make of it.

Let me just say this, with regards to putting a 420A-derivtive into a 1G DSM...

Alright I really got my wires crossed somewhere. I have a 95 2.0 motor from a Neon, and a DOHC head from an eclipse. I somewhere got my wires crossed in thinking that the neons 2.0 was a 4g63 block.... DONT ASK. Yea im a tard.
I would be doing the fabrication for the motor mounts, my neighbor has alot of the tools for metal work and i can weld.

Choke yourself... Now go find a 4g63T with tranny, harness, ECU, and accessories for about $1500.00 from a local pick and pull. Do a timing belt a water pump a balance shaft elimination and throw it in there and go rape some Mustangs.

I'm talking about one with all of the above mentioned equipment (Engine, Tranny, Accessories, Harness, ECU, and Turbo) and low miles.
