#120520, "HELP!! Engine stalls, will not idle... sometimes"
I've searched and read a few threads dealing with this problem but none of them give a solution. My problem is that sometimes when I start my '95 eclipse it will immediately die. It will stay running if I keep my foot on the gas, but as soon as I let off, the rpm will drop fast, sputter around 200-300 and then stall. I notice when this happens that there is a strong odor of gas (only the first time tho). The car will drive and operate like normal except the idle drops and the engine will stall if I let off the pedal. I am not getting any check engine lights and have not replaced any sensors yet, as the problem is intermittent. I removed my throttle body about a month ago and cleaned it and the IAC with carb cleaner and it seemed to help for a bit. I noticed there was a TON of black soot on the back of the throttle blade. Not sure if this actually had anything to do with it... Its starting to happen more frequent and it bugs the s#%t out of me. It started a month or so after installing my Turbo. The car has 124,000 miles and has newer NGK plugs and MSD wires and coil.

I'm assuming you're using an fmu and stock injectors?

I had the same problem with my 97 420A turbo. I cleaned the throttle body, replaced the iac, and replaced my missing link and map, because the guy who put them on didnt do it right. I haven't had a problem since.

There is a possibility of a stuck/sticking injector. Too much fuel can flood an engine and cause it to sputter and die. You could try a power balance test if it comes back. (Google that for more information.)
