#119890, "Electrical Problem... HELP"

Ok so my car wont start on its own... i have to hook a battery pack up to it every time i want to start it... everything works fine and it runs fine once its started but if i shut it off and try to start it again it doesnt do anything at all... the battery is new and the alternator is fine but there is some kind of whine that i can hear while driving.. is this a bad ground maybe? and if so does anyone know where to look or what ground would cause this? any help is greatly appreciated... its getting pretty annoying having to pop the hood every time i need to go somewhere...

What do you mean by "doesn't do anything at all"? Do the dash lights just go out? Do you hear a click? What makes you say the alternators good? Checked output? Might be just a loose battery (or starter cable. Need a little more description.

Either the battery is dead or the connections at the battery are corroded.
It has nothing to do with the alternator or anything else.
The battery is what starts the car, the alt. keeps it running.

Sorry, what i mean by that is that the dash lights and radio and everything shuts off and there is no click at all. I can get in my car and turn the key on and the radio and lights and everything will work fine but if i try to start it everything just shuts off.

Replace your battery terminals.

What he says.

I had the same exact problem and it was corrosion on the battery terminals and the bolt was kinda stripped so the nut couldn't tighten down very much so it wasn't getting a good connection. Went to Wal-mart and got some terminals from the battery section for like 2-3 bucks each and threw them on and that fixed the problem.

It very well may be a bad battery. It has all the symptoms.

we pretty much decided today that it had to be the battery and turns out it was the battery i've had for a total of 2 months. but the good side of it is that it had a warranty and they replaced it for free. problem solved. thanks for the help everyone.

Tell us how long it stays good, if it runs for a week and dies again, you could still have a charging issue that caused the battery to drain and eventually go bad. Have a good week driving around worrying about what I just said emoji
