Same head, same block, same studs... maybe (I wouldn't)
New head, or new block, or new studs... probably not ( I wouldn't)

How much is your time worth?

If it's less than 45 bucks then go for it. If you don't mind tearing back into the motor because it doesnt seal properly then its not a big deal right?

God dammit DJ, I gotta agree with you again emoji ?

My sentiments exactly. Take you chances (I wouldn't), but if it doesn't seal your labor and cash.

Why? They won't fit your head.

Then they're not 3G lifters, they're a PT lifter.

No head gasket is reusable, I don't care if it's made of solid gold.

Not true. Some of my professional drag racing friends re-use their Cometic head gaskets quite often, as long as it's not damaged. One of them runs low 8's in his 3500 lb Challenger spraying a 400-shot of Nitrous and is one of the top Xtreme Street NMCA contenders. Not a 420A by far, but goes to show that you CAN re-use some gaskets.

Ofcoarse if you're unsure, replace it. It NEVER hurts to use a new gasket.

I was referring to 420a HG's, sorry I didn't specify. They have thin sheets of metal that crush, and there's considerable play in the holes so it'd be tough to line up twice.

I'm sure some non-MLS gaskets would be infinitely reusable, but why risk $40 on a $1000 engine build? If money's that tight, that should be the warning sign maybe you're not in the right hobby.

It's like reusing some rubber gaskets, sure they may look fine until they leak in a few months and you have to tear it down again. emoji
