I was at the garage yesterday and had to have something welded. The guy at the garage welded it up but before I could get back to disconnect the battery. I went to pull my car out afterwards and it keeps stalling. It will not turn over, before he welded it ran fine I drove it into the welding bay not more than 5 minutes before that. I am thinking he fried the PCM any other suggestions?

Where did he ground the welder? It might be a blown fuse or something.

What was he welding and what was he using to weld? MIG, TIG? With a MIG welder you have to be welding at least 12-16 inches from your ECU or else it will mess it up. If he was TIG welding, well, he shouldn't have been lol. TIG is not to be used ON a car. You can TIG weld stuff OFF of a car, but the frequencies TIG use can seriously F-Up a car and it's electrical system. You should be TIG welding like 20 FEET from a car, as it can still mess it up from any closer.

I dont care where you weld on a vehicle, you never ever leave the battery connected. Persoanlly, I remove the ECU to be on the safe side.

The ground system provides an avenue for current to flow around the harnesses and destroy components as well as the actual harness. I have seen harnesses catch fire that were no where near the actual welding ground or Mig torch. Your in for a long shitty road to figure out how much is damaged. I recommend you take it to the dealer and cross your fingers.

yeah and the only PCM that I can find locally is for a 97. I am going to go by Satan's place today and see how long and much it will be.

well the obdII scanner came up with nothing. I am wondering if the coil could be fried. I am going to pulg the plugs and see if I am firing on all 4 or if it is even firing in the correct order. I hate not being able to work on my car until it is fixed.

well i get to try and work on it tonight hopefully I find a screwed up coil and it starts up with a new coil.

well a new coil did not fix the problem. It still is not getting any spark. I have a buddy looking for a PCM back home since parts are a rarity in AZ.
